I did not know that 5% existed -- it is not offered at my pharmacy. The price from you is 6 dollars less than the large chain pharmacy charges for 4%.I use this cream before electroylsis and it works well as long as I make sure to apply it a full half hour before treatment.I have recently had hand surgery and my skin itches under my cast. Very carefully I applied some LMX 5% cream and it relieved it immediately.

I have been blessed with many moles (Seborrheic Keratosis) on my body and finally decided to have a dermatologist remove them via electrocautery. Anyone who knows about this procedure, where the the doctor uses a metal probe to shoot an electrical current directly on the mole, knows that there is pain and considerable discomfort involved. The doctor told me about LMX 4% but others told me it was ineffective. When I looked online, I saw this LMX 5% cream and bought it. It is a blessing. I mark the area of my body to be treated and one hour before the procedure, I rub a layer of the cream in and then apply a second coating/layer. It is important NOT to rub this second coating in; just let it sit on the skin. After application, I put plastic wrap on top and keep it there until the doctor takes it off to begin treatment.It is a laborious process but this cream is fantastic at significantly numbing the skin. In fact, on occasions when the doctor strays from the treated area and zaps a mole that I failed to cover with LMX5, I really feel the sting.I wish it weren't so expensive but I'm glad it is available. It will take close to a year for me to complete all my treatments, but I won't take a treatment without prepping with this cream.

Please note that this review is solely based on this product's effectiveness for electrolysis procedures only.I bought this product for electrolysis based on the excellent reviews, but it proved to be very ineffective. I would put two layers on approx. 30-40 mins before the procedure and saran wrap it. For the eyebrows, I honestly thought that it took away 10-15% of the pain at best. Same goes with the other parts of the body. And unfortunately, 10-15% is definitely not worth the high cost of this product. However, it does work fairly well for the upper lip, so if I were to base this review solely on electrolysis of the lip, I would give it 3.5 stars.If you're looking for a good numbing cream for electrolysis, I suggest Emla--the brand name. You have to get a prescription from your doctor to get it but it works better than this.
